REGGAE GIRLZ YOUNG CORE TO CONTEST CAC GAMES

Senior Reggae Girlz head coach Hubert Busby on Wednesday named a youthful squad to contest the 2026 Central America and Caribbean Games (CAC). The CAC Games are being held outside of the regular FIFA window, so getting players from their respective clubs and colleges released is not mandatory. The squad will feature players with senior team experience as recently as the World Cup qualifiers. These include Goalkeeper Liya Brooks, Peyton McNamara, Destiny Powell, Ricshya Walker and Davia Richards. The squad is completed by Mariah Scott (GK), Njeri Butts, Akelia Johnson, Dejionee Anderson, U20 Captain Jaileah Cox-McPherson, Kalila Daley, Shanae Ashley, Lola Nesbeth, Samantha Lyew, Maya McDermot, Malayna Johnson-Mighty, Phoenix White and Alyssa Stephenson. Jamaica will play out of group B alongside Colombia, Puerto Rico and Mexico with their opening game on Wednesday July 29 versus Colombia. They will return to action on the 31st to face Puerto Rico and close out their group play on August 2nd against Mexico. The top two teams will make progress to the semi-finals stage. Leacroft Lettman will serve as interim head coach, as Hubert Busby jr will be absent due to a prior family commitment and serve in an advisory role. Lettman has coaching experience with the under-20 and under-17 Reggae Girlz and has been working closely with Busby. Even though he will be absent coach Busby has high expectations of the group and is urging the players to put on a good show. “…we are going there for this tournament to try to medal, we know its difficult bet we play football matches to win.” “For them to gain experience…” …”to have a good showing to be in consideration for October window.” Meanwhile coach Lettman is welcoming the challenge of coaching this team, “It’s always a pleasure, once we are in the seat of the national program, we always tend to put our best foot forward with whatever players we have to work with.” This will be Reggae Girlz’s third CAC games participation.
