KINGSMEN, FALCONS TO DO BATTLE IN CPL OPENER

The 2026 edition of Republic Bank’s Caribbean Premier League bowls off on August 7 at the Arnos Vale Stadium in St Vincent and the Grenadines, hosting for the very first time as the Falcons take on newcomers Jamaica Kingsmen.

For the first time in the tournament’s 14-year history seven (7) teams will be vying for the coveted CPL title with the return of a Jamaican franchise. Kingsmen will be looking to make an instant impact mirroring the success of the previous Jamaican franchise Tallawahs. Kingsmen righthand batter Keacy Carty says preparations have been great for the team, and he is excited for a successful season with the Kingsmen “We really want to put down performances where we compete for the championship.”

The team will head home after their opening encounter for four games against the Barbados Royals (Aug. 11), Guyana Amazon Warriors (Aug. 13), Trinbago Knight Riders (Aug. 15) and St Kitts and Nevis Patriots (Aug. 18).

Kingsmen will be under the leadership of Jamaican Rovman Powell. The full squad reads Andre Russell, Odean Smith, Keemo Paul, Kacy Carty, Kirk McKenzie, Jeavor Royal, Shaqkere Paris, Vitel Lawes, Jediah Blades, Romaine Morris, Kelvin Pitman, Maaz Sadaqat, Saim Ayub, Usman Khan, Hunain Shah, Tayyab Arif, Hassan Khan, and Shayan Jahangir. Kingsmen will have a rotation of their overseas players quota to match their availability.

Meanwhile, the Falcons will be looking to build on their 2025 season where they made the playoffs for the first time. They will be captained by Englishman Moeen Ali accompanied by Jahmar Hamilton, Amir Jangoo, Evin Lewis, Kusal Perera, Fabian Allen, Rahkeem Cornwall, Milind Kumar, Shadab Khan, Shamar Springer, Tajinder Singh, Karima Gore, Joshua James, Alzarri Joseph, Anderson Mahase, Anderson Phillip, Jayden Seals and Sufyan Moqim

The tournament will run from August 7th through to September 20th to played across eight venues.
