JAMAICA PICKED UP 3 MEDALS ON FINAL DAY OF WA U20 CHMAPIONSHIP

Jamaica picked up an additional 3 medals on the final day of the 2026 World Athletics under 20 Championships at Hayward field in Eugene, Oregon. The under 20 world leader in men’s discus Joseph Salmon copped bronze medal with a mark of 64-point-37 meters on his on his second attempt in a very exciting final. Fellow Jamaican Kamari Kennedy produced a lifetime best throw of 64-point-18 meters but just missed the podium finishing in 4th place.

USA’s Simon Rosselli won the gold medal in a national under 20 record throwing 66-point-39 meters and Estonia’s Sten-Erik Iir took silver with a personal best throw of 65-point-42 meters.

GOLD AND BRONZE FOR 4X100M TEAMS

The women’s sprint relay team of Sashana Johnson, Theianna-Lee Terrelonge, Natrece East and Shanoya Douglas sped to a under 20 world leading time of 42-point-89 seconds for the gold medal. Douglas picked up her third medal of the championship, adding to her sprint double silver medals.

Cary Card, the 100-meter silver medalist led a team of Kyle Bodden, Nyron Wade and Sanjay Seymore to bronze in the men’s equivalent to earn Jamaica’s eight medal. They ran a season’s best time of 39-point-01 seconds to finish behind Great Britain under 20 area-record 38-point-90 seconds and USA who smashed the world under 20 record running 38-point-16 seconds for gold.

Jamaica ended the championship with eight medals 2 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze to finish 4th on the table.
