Jamaica put on a dominant display in their opening encounter of the Pan American Lacrosse championship beating Colombia 22-2 at the Stadium East field in Kingston, Jamaica in pool A action. The Jamaicans turned a competitive second quarter 4-2 lead into a complete blow of their opposition scoring 18 unanswered goals for the win.

Colombia tried to limit the goal scoring onslaught with a goalkeeper change with Oscar Cifuentes replacing Sebastian Gomez at the 30-minute mark, but the Jamaicans were unrelenting as Elias McLaughlin with four goals led the scoring as one of five players registering a hattrick. Evan Stone, Hayden Hiltz, Isaac Newland, and Karl Robinson the other players to score a hattrick on matchday 1 as the host completed a total of 43 shots on goal to a mere 9 from Colombia to further underscore their dominance in the game. Jamaica will next be in action on Wednesday against number one ranked USA.

Other results from matchday 1 saw Haudenosaunee beat Argentina 28-1 and Canada 19-2 over Mexico both pool B matches.

Teams are vying for a place at the 2027 World Lacrosse Men’s Championship in Tokyo, with the top five teams qualifying for the 16-team event.
